Danny is a writer specialising in the poetics of sound, as well as a composer. He has been active as a university lecturer, film teacher, and arts centre manager. His books explore subtle aspects of sound, such as quietness, resonance, and sonority. He is the author of The Noon Bell and Quiet Cinema. Danny’s collection of compositions are included in the album Nocturnes, Caprices & Serenades. He has worked on feature films and television productions as composer and sound designer. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the London College of Communication. He was influenced from an early age by his mother, a violin teacher; his father, a violin professor and author; and his grandfather, a printing scholar. Danny is half Swiss/German and half Welsh, and spent much of his youth in Luzern and the high alpine valley region of Engadine in Switzerland, and in the mountainous hinterland of Ceredigion in Wales.
