Synopsis

Based on the best-selling book by Marsha Mehran, Pomegranate Soup is a charming and feel-good story about three beguiling Iranian sisters who through a twist of fate find themselves moving to a quirky little Irish town. Though the townspeople are reluctant to welcome them at first, they are soon won over by their charm and delicious cooking at their Babylon Cafe, and it is through these new friendships that the girls ultimately triumph in coming to terms with the ghosts of their past and create a new home for themselves.

Marsha Mehran - Author
Born in Tehran, Marsha Mehran escaped the upheaval of the Iranian revolution with her family. She grew up in Argentina and the United States. She has also lived in Australia and Ireland. Mehran's debut novel Pomegranate Soup was published in 2005 and subsequently became an international bestseller.
Mehran's second novel, Rosewater and Soda Bread, published in 2008, is a continuation of Pomegranate Soup. Also due out in 2013 is a stand-alone novel, The Monday Night School of Beauty. Set in Buenos Aires during the Falklands War, it tells the story of a group of displaced beings who gather once a week to recite poetry and tell tales of what has been. Marsha Mehran sadly passed away in Ireland in 2014.
